Long story short, could someone explain what is so amazing about these 2 mods that makes them so popular. CBBE looks like it's goal is to make a melon-breasted Skyrim which makes it stand out if you're looking for that. So in my eyes, the popularity of Skyrim body mods is strange. In Skyrim the Vanilla bodies look great to me already. In Oblivion (and definitely Morrowind), body mods fixed up vanilla bodies a lot. I'm on the side that doesn't use a body mod.

There are a few skin texture modders out there and they work for both CBBE and UNP (UNPB uses same textures as UNP) so besides actual body shape/armor, all things are equal.
